The Spatial Data Infrastructure Germany (SDI Germany or in German GDI-DE) comprises four permanent working groups. They deal primarily with technical issues.

  • The Working Group Architecture prepares the technical concept for the development of the GDI-DE and recommends standards for the exchange of spatial data.
  • The Working Group Metadata deals with the standards for the description of spatial data sets/ services and for the exchange of these descriptions („metadata“). Furthermore, it makes recommendations for the implementation of these standards.
  • The Working Group Spatial Data Services examines and evaluates standards for the exchange of spatial data via the Internet and makes recommendations on implementation.
  • The Working Group SIG 3D addresses issues concerning three-dimensional city and landscape models, from standards to marketing.
  • The Working Group INSPIRE deals with the implementation of the INSPIRE Directive and brings in especially the common requirements of the working bodies of the German Conference of Environment Ministers (UMK) into the process of implementing the INSPIRE directive and further developing the SDI Germany.

The working groups are an important link between experts from administration and economy. The Coordination Office SDI Germany is represented in all working groups. They all report to the Steering Committee SDI Germany and advise it on the development of concepts and measures.

Further information on the working groups please find in the GDI-DE Wiki.
