How do the filters function in the hit list?

In the area to the left of the hit list you have the possibility to narrow your search result afterwards. This filter option refers to the “Maps“ and "Geodata". In the following you will find a description of how these filters work. The descriptions are targeted to experts and apply to the ISO Standards ISO 19115, 19119 and 19139

Topics: For the "Topics" filter the metadata field "Topic Category" is evaluated and assigned to different areas (e.g. inlandwaters, oceans are assigned to the sector "Water"), which means that by the selection "Water" all metadata with the TopicCategory inlandWaters and oceans will appear in the hit list.

XPATH: /gmd:MD_Metadata/gmd:identificationInfo/gmd:MD_DataIdentification/gmd:topicCategory/gmd:MD_TopicCategoryCode

Purchase: For the "Purchase" filter the metadata fields "electronicMailAddress" for the ordering filter, and "linkage" for the download filter in the distributionInfo area are evaluated. When activated, only metadata sets are displayed that have contents in these fields.

XPATH electronicMailAddress: distributionInfo//distributor//contactInfo/*/electronicMailAddress

XPATH linkage: distributionInfo//transferOptions//onLine/*/linkage

Date: For the "Date" filter the metadata field "Date" is evaluated. In case that no readable date is contained in this field, the field "dateStamp" is evaluated. The hit list includes metadata sets within the date range as specified by you. If only "from" has been filled in the current date for "to" will be added.

XPATH dateStamp: dateStamp

XPATH date: identificationInfo[1]//citation//date/*/date

Scale: For the "Scale" filter the metadata field "Denominator" is evaluated. By indication of a scale range only metadata within this range are written into the hit list.

XPATH denominator: identificationInfo[1]//spatialResolution//equivalentScale/*/denominator

Evaluation: Through the "Evaluation" filter you can filter the hit list according to the number of starlets (maximally 5 rating starlets = highest rating). The evaluation originates from an additional field in the search index of the, which is allocated a value via the evaluation function. The respective evaluation does not enter into the original dataset of the GeoData Catalogue-DE.

INSPIRE: INSPIRE is a European directive for the establishment of a European GeoDataInfrastructure. Learn more about INSPIRE .Via the INSPIRE filter your search result is narrowed to maps and data provided by geodata-keeping agencies in Germany for INSPIRE. To this end the filter uses two sources of information:

  • the Keyword inspire I identified appears in the metadata maintained by the geodata-keeping agencies. This way, geodata-keeping agencies mark the maps and data provided within the scope of the European INSPIRE directive.
  • the dataset or map service was reported to the GDI-DE Coordination Office with a unique identifier (ID) by the respective geodata provider in the current INSPIRE-Monitoring .
