Time Schedule

The INSPIRE Directive provides for a gradual development of the European Spatial Data Infrastructure.

Milestones in the implementation of the INSPIRE Directive

12-10-2021 Callable spatial data services
All accessible spatial data services shall be provided in accordance with Annex VI and, where practicable, Annex VII of the Regulation (EU) Nr. 1089/2010.

21-10-2020 - Existing spatial data sets corresponding to the themes listed in Annexes II and III
Existing spatial data sets on the topics of Annexes II and III of the INSPIRE Directive at the time of the adoption of Regulation (EU) Nr. 1089/2010 shall be made available in accordance with the Regulation (EU) Nr. 1089/2010.

04-02-2018 -  Existing spatial data sets corresponding to the themes listed in Annex I
Existing spatial data sets on the themes of Annex I of the INSPIRE Directive at the time of the adoption of Regulation (EU) Nr. 1089/2010 shall be made available in accordance with the code lists and with Regulation (EU) Nr. 1089/2010.

23-11-2017 - Existing spatial data sets corresponding to the themes listed in Annex I
Existing spatial data sets on the topics of Annex I of the INSPIRE Directive at the time of the adoption of Regulation (EU) Nr. 1089/2010 shall be provided in accordance with Regulation (EU) Nr. 1089/2010.

10-12-2016 - Callable spatial data services in accordance with Annex VI or VII
All accessible spatial data services that process newly collected or substantially restructured INSPIRE-relevant spatial data after the adoption of Regulation (EU) Nr. 1089/2010 shall be provided in accordance with Annex VI and, where practicable, Annex VII of Regulation (EU) Nr. 1089/2010.

10-12-2015 - Invoked spatial data services in accordance with Annex V
All accessible spatial data services shall be provided in accordance with Annex V of Regulation (EU) Nr. 1089/2010.

21-10-2015 - Newly collected or largely restructured spatial data sets for the themes listed in Annexes II and III
Newly collected or largely restructured spatial data sets on the themes of Annexes II and III of the INSPIRE Directive after the adoption of Regulation (EU) Nr. 1089/2010 shall be made available in accordance with Regulation (EU) Nr. 1089/2010. The provision does not refer to already existing spatial data sets, only to those, that have been newly created or largely restructured after the adoption of these regulation (10.12.2013).

03-12-2013 - Metadata relating to the themes listed in Annex III
Spatial data sets and services falling within the themes of Annex III of the INSPIRE Directive shall be described with metadata compliant with Regulation (EU) Nr. 1205/2008.

28-12-2012 - Full operational capability of the download and transformation services
All INSPIRE-relevant spatial data sets shall be made available via download and transformation services compliant with Regulation (EU) Nr. 976/2009 in compliance with all the qualitative requirements specified in the Regulation.

23-11-2012 - Newly collected or largely restructured spatial data sets for the themes listed in Annex I
Newly collected or largely restructured spatial data sets on the themes of Annexe I of the INSPIRE Directive after the adoption of Regulation (EU) Nr. 1089/2010 shall be made available in accordance with Regulation (EU) Nr. 1089/2010. The provision does not refer to already existing geodata sets, only to those that have been newly created or largely restructured after the adoption of these regulation (23.11.2010).

28-06-2012 - Initial operability of the download and transformation services
All INSPIRE-relevant spatial data sets shall be made available via download and transformation services compliant with Regulation (EU) Nr. 976/2009.

09-11-2011 - Full operational capability of the search and presentation services
All INSPIRE-relevant spatial data sets shall be made available via search and presentation services compliant with Regulation (EU) Nr. 976/2009 in compliance with all the qualitative requirements specified in the Regulation.

09-05-2011- Initial operability of search and presentation services
All INSPIRE-relevant spatial data sets shall be made available via search and presentation services compliant with Regulation (EU) Nr. 976/2009.

03-12-2010 - Metadata on the themes listed in Annexes I and II
Spatial data sets and services falling within the themes of Annexes I and II of the INSPIRE Directive shall be described with metadata compliant with Regulation (EU) Nr. 1205/2008.
