Municipal Coordination Committee

Municipal geoinformation is an important building block of the Spatial Data Infrastructure Germany (GDI-DE) and the implementation of the INSPIRE Directive. Practical added value is created through their networking with numerous federal digitisation activities. Examples are the implementation of the Online Access Act, the gradual expansion of digital administration and the development of digital cities, districts and regions. The core objective is to integrate spatial data and spatial data services in a process-oriented manner into the multitude of different specialist tasks.

The municipalities are integrated into the spatial data infrastructures of the federal states. At the federal level, their interests are represented in the steering committee of the SDI Germany by one member from each of the three central municipal associations (German Association of Cities, German Association of Rural Districts and German Association of Towns and Municipalities). These are supported by the Municipal Coordination Committee of the municipal umbrella associations (KoKo SDI Germany), which was founded in 2010. In this way, municipal issues are brought to the attention of the steering committee of the SDI Germany.
